Learn from Dr. John Volpe, and Chef Petro Dimopoulous from Vancouver’s Nammos Estiatorio about the savory delight of Greek wine and food.
This lunchtime event for local sommeliers and restaurant managers will feature more than a dozen unique wines from Kir Yianni, a premium winery based in Northwestern Greece.
Kir Yianni prides itself on producing wines that appeal to the taste of the modern consumer reflecting the potential of the Greek vineyard and of its indigenous varieties, such as the noble red Xinomavro.
Dr. John Volpe will share his deep understanding of these wines, as an ecologist with a special interest in the linkages between ecology, sustainability, quality, and the importance of place.
The event will focus on grapes and wines where environment, soil, and climate are important determinants of the final product.
Explore the diversity that Greek gastronomy has to offer from its wondrous land, sea, & soil.
NOTE: Invite-only for local sommeliers and restaurant managers
I and my students use quantitative analyses of food and wine production systems to reveal linkages between ecological and social sustainability, “quality”, and the primacy of place … “Ecogastronomy”
